Cách dùng
"Đức Phật" (đọc ほとけ): 「仏を拝む」 — lạy Phật; 「仏様」 — Đức Phật (kính ngữ). Còn chỉ người đã khuất: 「仏になる」 — qua đời. Nghĩa bóng: người hiền từ: 「仏のような人」. Thành ngữ 「仏の顔も三度」 — giận cũng có giới hạn; 「知らぬが仏」 — không biết thì yên lòng.

祖母は毎朝仏壇の前で仏様を拝んでいる。
