Cách dùng

"Câu, câu văn" (đọc ぶん): 「文を書く」 — viết câu; 「短い文」 — câu ngắn; 「文を作る」 — đặt câu; 「文法」 — ngữ pháp. Còn nghĩa "văn" đối lập với "võ": 「文武両道」 — văn võ song toàn. 文 = câu; 文章 = đoạn văn, bài văn.

"Thư, lá thư" (đọc ふみ, văn cổ, thơ ca): 「文を送る」 — gửi thư; 「恋文」 — thư tình. Mang sắc thái cổ điển, văn chương; hiện đại dùng 手紙. Thường gặp trong tên tác phẩm, lời bài hát.
